Dear Mr. McCanless:
Thank you for contacting me regarding your opposition to the attempt to increase gas taxes in South Carolina.
You will recall that while the initiative for the increases came from
the Senate, there were enough of us in the Senate to kill the proposal.
Just as skyrocketing gas prices are hurting middle class people as well
as small business, a gas tax increase would have made these intolerable
prices even worse.
Thank you as always for your efforts on behalf of small business and a healthy economy.
